Tychem® 5000 fabric is made from a multi-layer film barrier laminated to a durable 2.0 oz/yd² polypropylene substrate. Designed for demanding tasks, Tychem® 5000 is tough and reliable in situations involving liquid splash, offering protection against a wide range of chemicals. It’s ideal for applications such as chemical handling, petrochemical industries, hazardous materials/waste cleanup, fire departments, industrial hazmat teams, utilities, and domestic preparedness. It’s commonly used for situations where there is potential chemical exposure.
The zipper includes a semi-automatic locking slider to keep the puller down and locked in place. Taped seams offer enhanced chemical resistance against heavy liquid splashes. The sewn seams are covered with a strip of heat-sealed, chemical-resistant material. The hood is attached and features elastic around the face opening. The strong zipper provides a tough, flexible closure. A storm flap covers the zipper, which can be sealed with an adhesive strip to prevent any intrusion. Elastic wrist openings provide a snug fit. Integrated socks made from the same garment material ensure full coverage. The garment is latex-free, manufactured according to specifications that avoid natural rubber latex. It meets U.S. industry standards for blood (ASTM F1670) and viral penetration (ASTM F1671), providing protection against several bloodborne pathogens.
