Barrier Protection Gloves
Regarding barrier protection gloves, there are many options available on the market, but not all gloves qualify as Barrier Protection Gloves. So how do we define barrier protection gloves, what is the testing, and how do you determine the level of barrier protection that fits your needs? I will try to explain it in the below section.
There are two methods for barrier protection -
The EN374 air leak test
The Acceptable Quality Level or AQL liquid leak test.
The EN374 is a liquid penetration test where a glove is placed in a tank of water up to the cuff and inflated like a balloon. If air bubbles come out, it’s determined that it is not appropriate barrier protection because whatever can come out can also go in. AQL is the standard used to measure the percentage of defects in gloves. This test involves filling the gloves up with water hanging them upside down for 2 minutes and then checking for pinhole leaks. If there is a leakage, well then you know the answer.
